Our Story - A Family Tradition, Handed Down with Care

At Grandmeadow Meats, we don’t just sell meat—we carry on a way of life that’s been in our family for generations.

Both of us grew up on small farms in central Minnesota, where raising animals wasn’t just part of the daily routine - it was a way of teaching responsibility, hard work, and respect for where your food comes from. We learned to butcher the old-fashioned way: side-by-side with our grandparents, in cold barns and butcher sheds, with hands-on lessons passed down the line - not from textbooks, but from experience, family stories, and pride in doing things right.

That tradition stuck with us. Today, we’re proud to keep it alive here in Clearwater, MN, through a small-town butcher shop that still believes in honest work, fair prices, and real food. We know our customers by name, we cut everything by hand, and we treat every cut like it’s going on our own family’s dinner table.

We source as much of our meat as we can from local farms and raise some of it ourselves - like our parents and grandparents did. No corporate shortcuts. No fancy packaging. Just quality meat, prepared with skill and care.

Whether you’re picking up a few pork chops for dinner, stocking your freezer with a quarter beef, or grabbing our house-made sausage for a weekend cookout, you’re getting more than a great product. You’re getting a piece of our family’s story—and a whole lot of pride in every cut.

Welcome to Grandmeadow Meats.

We’re glad you’re here.
Ron and Darlene

At Grandmeadow Meats, we’ve been raising and butchering our own meat since before we could drive a tractor. What started on our family farm—raising animals the right way and learning to butcher from our grandparents—has grown into something we’re proud to share with the whole town.

We don’t cut corners. We cut meat. The kind that’s fresh, flavorful, and raised with care. You won’t find shrink-wrapped mystery meat here—just real cuts from real animals, processed by real butchers who still believe in doing things the right way.

We want our customers to know exactly where their meat comes from, how it was handled, and why it tastes so damn good. Because to us, meat isn’t just something you buy. It’s something you gather around. Something that feeds families, fills freezers, and brings people together. Just like it always has.

Best breakfast sausage around. I make a trip every month just for it.

We’ve been buying meat from here for 15 years. Always treated like family, and the meat is top notch. We just tried the jerky — amazing.
